Special Election Results & Follow Up
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
On Saturday, Texas Values Action endorsed Republican candidate, Leigh Wambsganss, lost her Senate District 9 run-off election against leftist Democrat Taylor Rehmet, by a noticeable margin, 57-43. While this is surprising and very disappointing news, we know that there is much more work ahead of us! There are many reasons this race didn’t go our way (we now have ways, too, that Texas Values Action can perform better), but we would like to use this as an opportunity to remind everyone how important it is to vote and stay engaged! We’d like to hear what you think we could do better in the future on these types of races to increase voter turnout and have better results.
It’s not over!! Leigh Wambsganss will be running unopposed in the Republican primary for this same Texas State Senate District 9 on March 3, 2026, and will compete in the general election on November 3, 2026 against Democrat Taylor Rehmet again.
Let this results of this race be a big wake up call that we as voters can’t take any election for granted in Texas and we need very high turnout in every race to make sure that faith, family and freedom are always our strong values in Texas!!
The work has only just begun! The March primary elections are just around the corner and it’s important to stay engaged in your local races!
Early voting starts in just two weeks!! Check out txvaluesaction.org to view our current list of endorsements!
