President Obama Responsible for Funding Planned Parenthood’s Barbarism

Today, President Obama chose to veto the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which would have removed most of this year’s funding from mandatory programs, like Medicaid, from abortion entities including Planned Parenthood. The bill also would have repealed key provisions of Obamacare, which encourages abortion coverage and threatens religious conscience protections.

Jonathan Saenz, President and Attorney of Texas Values Action made this statement:

“It is clear by the President’s veto that he has rejected the voice of the people and has chosen instead to fund the barbaric practices of Planned Parenthood, including their sale of baby body parts, their refusal to report sexual abuse of their clients, and their multiple violations of Medicaid contracts. By forcing individuals and employers to pay for abortion coverage, even when it violates their religious convictions, the President has disregarded our First Amendment Freedoms. We implore Congress to override the President’s veto and continue the fight to end the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood.”

Planned Parenthood was recently caught on tape by Center for Medical Progress in an investigation in which Planned Parenthood admitted to selling baby body parts.

Alliance Defending Freedom released a report in which Planned Parenthood was caught in multiple cases for refusing to report sexual abuse of clients. Most of the cases were the abuse of minors.

This year, Texas withdrew Planned Parenthood’s tax-payer Medicaid funds for “a series of serious Medicaid program violations” including: Violating federal laws by “altering the timing or method of an abortion,” “Not comply[ing] with mandatory ‘universal precautions,” including the use of “protective barriers,’ required whenever anyone handles ‘blood’” and failing “To comply with the minimum standards that mandatory training requires with regard to these critical public health and safety issues.”
