Conservatives in Texas have taken for granted the uphill battle Democrats face when seeking public office, but that uphill battle is becoming less insurmountable. The contentious race between incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Dallas Congressman Colin Allred is a wake up call that has shocked many lifelong conservatives in Texas as the polls have narrowed.

Anyone who has followed this race closely is aware of the coordinated effort by Democrats and the campaign to rebrand Congressman Allred as a moderate, common sense legislator working sensibly with Republicans to pass bipartisan initiatives in Congress. His website boasts numerous examples of this, but what does his record in Congress actually tell us?

On September 27 2024, Congressman Allred signed a letter requesting the U.S. Military to fund sex-change procedures and “medically necessary care,” not only for the men and women who serve, but their children as well. To be clear, this “care” consists of cross sex hormones, puberty blockers, and the removal of healthy body parts causing irreversible physical and psychological harm. The initiation of cross sex hormone therapy in affirmation of a false identity should never be subsidized by the American taxpayer and furthermore should never be labeled “medically necessary.” This letter goes on to say, “Denying this care to the transgender dependents and spouses of service members will also undermine our recruitment and retention efforts, as people will not join or remain in the Armed Forces if their families are unable to receive the care they and their doctors agree is necessary.” I wonder if Congressman Allred was concerned about recruitment and retention during the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, during which valuable men and women serving in our military were forcibly dismissed? Are we truly supposed to believe these “expert“ doctors, doctors who assured millions of Americans that the vaccine was “safe and effective,” now insisting that blocking puberty for children confused about their sex is “lifesaving?” This view upheld by Congressman Allred is not only shocking, but radical.

Although expertly curating his public persona to appear moderate, it seems clear that Colin Allred has taken a page out of Kamala Harris’ playbook. She goes a step further on government funded trans-care by stating the following, “I support policies ensuring that federal prisoners and detainees are able to obtain medically necessary care for gender transition, including surgical care, while incarcerated or detained.” Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver transition treatment.” Make no mistake, the congressman will continue to push a radical trans agenda that will enslave confused children to the medical industrial complex for life.

Congressman Allred boasted about his efforts to secure a 1 billion dollar grant in taxpayer funds for the Resource Center: a Texas organization promoting gender transitions and queer sex-ed classes for minors. He has attended numerous events championing this organization and posted on X in August of 2022, “The Resource Center does critical work to support LGBTQ North Texans and I was so proud to secure federal funds so they can build housing for seniors.” One of their programs, Youth First, is an initiative where “gender non-conforming” teens can register for a queer sex-ed class. For a congressman trying to distance himself from the extreme left wing agenda of his party, his feeble attempt to reinvent his image clashes against a past record of advocacy and support for organizations who advocate for the sterilization of minors.

In a recent ad, Congressman Allred claims to be a Christian opposing boys competing in girls sports and blasts Senator Cruz for mischaracterizing his record. Once again, his record speaks for itself. Allred voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, he voted in support of the Equality Act, and he cosponsored the Transgender Bill of Rights– a radical piece of legislation that would redefine the Bill of Rights and enshrine the Federal Government’s role in subsidizing “medical care” for transgender and nonbinary people.  Colin Allred can run all the ads in the world in an attempt to appear less radical, but his public record speaks loud and clear.

As a pediatric nurse who worked at Texas Children’s Hospital in a gender clinic, I witnessed first hand the irreversible and damaging effects of cross-sex hormones on children. These children with past histories of abuse, mental health struggles, and self-harm are manipulated by doctors into believing that they were born into the wrong body. They are led to believe that their confusion and inner turmoil will resolve with hormones and puberty blockers; treatments that may render them infertile, unable to conceive, and unable to nurse their future children. I blew the whistle on gender affirming care because children are being harmed, and I was fired as a result. I am a Christian conservative nurse casting my ballot for Senator Ted Cruz this November: a leader who has affirmed biological truth by defending vulnerable children in our great state of Texas. I invite you to join me. The lives and well being of our children depend on it.
