#SaveWomensSports Bus at the NCAA Final Four!

Austin, TX – April 3, 2023: As men’s and women’s basketball teams gathered over the weekend for their respective NCAA Final Four championships, one of our allies, the Independent Council on Women’s Sports, had mobile billboards outside the Dallas and Houston arenas to bring awareness to the #SaveWomensSports issue. It will make its final appearance at the NCAA men’s Final Four tonight!

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Directory of Government Relations for Texas Values Action issued the following statement:

“The message is clear: If you come to Texas, you must respect women’s sports. For the second time this year, the NCAA has chosen Texas as a host for their events, and Texas is undeterred from passing legislation to protect women’s sports from elementary school all the way through college. I am thankful for my friends at ICONS for helping us fight to keep men out of women’s sports in Texas.”

Here in Texas, Texas Values has been working hard to get SB 15 by Senator Mayes Middleton passed, and we did it! We are working equally as hard to get its House counterpart – HB 23 by Representative Valoree Swanson – passed as well.

To help us accomplish this, Riley Gaines, 12-time collegiate award-winning competitive swimmer and spokeswoman for the #SaveWomensSports issue for the Independent Women’s Forum, another organizational ally, has testified before the Texas State Senate, and her testimony was crucial to its passage.

Texas Values has been at the forefront of the #SaveWomensSports issue. For more, see our new SaveWomensSportsTexas.com website and or download our mobile app, available at your device’s app store.

Texas Values Action has staff at the Capitol daily to provide critical updates on bills related to faith, family, and freedom. Members of the Texas Values Action policy team are also available for comment. Contact media@texasvaluesaction.org.
