Texas Values Action Endorses Bo French for Texas House

December 31, 2015

Mcnutt endorsement graphicTexas Values Action proudly endorses Bo French for the Texas House of Representatives, House District 99. French is a graduate of TCU with deep ties to Fort Worth where he has built a successful business and where he and his wife are raising their four children. French is challenging Rep. Charlie Geren in the March 1 Republican Primary.

“Bo French will be a bold, pro-family conservative in the Texas House. His steadfast commitment to protecting religious freedom, marriage, and the unborn leave no doubt he is the right choice in this race. With Bo French in the Texas House, the people of House District 99 will have a real voice for common sense Texas values. We know Bo French will work for religious freedom, and never against it,” said Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values Action.

Rep. Charlie Geren was among the lower scoring Republicans in the 2015 Faith and Family Scorecard (74%). During the 2015 session, Geren voted for and publicly championed a bill that would have infringed the First Amendment free speech rights of conservative non-profits and potentially even churches. Texas Values Action helped lead efforts to defeat the bill.

In past sessions, Rep. Geren has vigorously opposed religious freedom legislation. In 2011 in particular, Rep. Geren gave a speech on the House floor opposing the religious freedom bill, HJR 135, a bill supported by an overwhelming number of Republicans. The religious freedom bill “died” after Rep. Geren’s speech, and with the help of Democrats in the Texas House.

Constituents of HD 99 deserve a conservative voice that will champion the values of faith, family, and freedom in the Texas House.

Early Voting: February 16 – February 26

Primary Election Day: March 1
