Texas Values Action Endorses Dan Morenoff for Texas House

January 19, 2016

Dan Morenoff endorsement graphicTexas Values Action proudly endorses Dan Morenoff for the Texas House of Representatives, House District 114. Morenoff is the executive director of a public interest law firm and has served his community previously in leadership of the local chapters of both the Federalist Society and the Republican Jewish Coalition. He lives in Dallas where he and his wife have raised their three girls. Morenoff is challenging the incumbent Jason Villalba, a moderate Republican, in the March 1 Republican Primary.

“Dan Morenoff is a true leader with a record of conservative activism throughout his career. His commitment to fight to protect religious freedom, marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and innocent human life is the kind of true conservative leadership that the people of House District 114 are demanding. With Dan Morenoff in the Texas House, the people of House District 114 can be confident their Representative will work to protect religious freedom and marriage, not work against them,” said Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values Action.

Rep. Jason Villalba was among the lowest scoring Republicans in the 2015 Faith and Family Scorecard (66%). Villalba withdrew his own religious freedom bill (HJR 55) half-way through the 2015 legislative session, after opposition to HJR 55 from the Texas Association of Business and leading homosexual advocacy groups. Villalba has also given high praise to Rep. Sarah Davis for becoming the first Republican in the Texas House to support the redefinition of marriage. Villalba was one of a handful of Republicans that refused to sign on to a letter stating his support for marriage between one man and one woman.

Constituents of HD 114 deserve a true conservative voice that will champion the values of faith, family, and freedom in the Texas House.

Early Voting: February 16 – February 26

Primary Election Day: March 1
