Hillary is Defeated, But It’s Not Over For Texas

Last night was a historic election. In a shock to the Liberal political and media establishment, Donald Trump will be the next President of the United States.

It was a stinging rebuke to the most pro-abortion candidate in our nation’s history, Hillary Clinton.

It was also a strong rebuke to President Obama’s relentless attacks on religious freedom, marriage, and his lawless decrees, like his attempt to force our nation’s schools to open little girl’s bathroom to boys and his case against the Little Sisters of the Poor.

Trump’s victory, taken together with Republicans holding on to both the U.S. House and Senate, provides a great opportunity for faith, family, and freedom to go on the march.

But our work is far from over. With this stinging defeat, the radical Left will no doubt be desperate to regroup and attack our values at the national, state, and local levels like never before.

Republican leaders in Washington will need to be given a strong example of conservative, pro-family governance here in Texas. Donald Trump will need our prayers and will need our engagement to fulfill the promises he made on Supreme Court Justices, religious freedom, protecting life, and more. And Texas will still need to lead and be stronger than ever before.

Thankfully, election night in Texas also saw many important victories at the state level. In state races, Texas Values Action endorsed candidates won races up and down the ballot. This included hotly contested races in swing districts where State Representatives Rodney Anderson (R-Grand Prairie) and Matt Rinaldi (R-Irving) both won reelection to the Texas House. Both candidates are Faith and Family Champions that we endorsed and supported.

Republicans will enter the 2017 legislation session with strong control of the Texas Senate under the leadership of Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and with 95 of 150 seats in the Texas House. With momentum on our side, there will never be a better opportunity for Texas to enact important laws to protect life, religious freedom, and the privacy and safety of our citizens in intimate facilities.

Texans will expect and the nation will need our state leaders to act this session. Our team at Texas Values Action is actively preparing to ensure we take advantage of this great opportunity to advance faith, family, and freedom in Texas like never before.

Your generous support will be critical to our efforts across the state, including the upcoming legislative session in January. As far-left liberals lose power in D.C., they will no doubt try to use their local positions on school boards and city councils to undermine state leaders and to allow boys and men into girl’s bathrooms, like we have seen in Fort Worth, Houston, and Dripping Springs.

Make your commitment for a stronger Texas and nation today by supporting Texas Values Action.

Thank you for your engagement with us this election season. Please join us in prayer for our state, our nation, and for our elected leaders who will need God’s wisdom and wise counsel in the coming months.
