Sarah Davis Challenger, Other Endorsements In Latest Texas Values Action Picks

January 11, 2018

The challenger to the lowest-scoring Republican on the 2017 Faith & Family Scorecard was endorsed by Texas Values Action this morning.

Susanna Dokupil, candidate for Texas House District 134, is challenging Rep. Sarah Davis, who scored 3% on the scorecard. Dokupil, a former Assistant Solicitor General for the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, has the support of Gov. Greg Abbott and is enjoying widespread and growing support from conservative voters in the Houston area.

In addition, two other challengers to low-scoring Texas House incumbents and three Texas House candidates seeking open seats are among the endorsements released today by Texas Values Action. Also added to the list are two judicial district contenders appearing on the ballot and a county judge candidate in one of Texas’s fastest-growing counties.

New endorsements are: Brent Lawson for Texas House District 62 (open seat); Armin Mizani for Texas House District 98 (challenging Rep. Giovanni Capriglione, who scored 76% on the Faith & Family scorecard); Jared Patterson for Texas House District 106 (open seat); Chad Carnahan for Texas House District 102 (challenging Rep. Linda Koop, who scored 60% on the scorecard); Matt Beebe for Texas House District 121 (open seat); Susanna Dokupil for Texas House District 134 (challenging Rep. Sarah Davis, who scored 3% on the scorecard); Michelle Slaughter for Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 8; Jim Pikl for 5th Court of Appeals, Place 12; and Chris Hill for Collin County Judge.

“These candidates demonstrate a firm commitment to protecting religious liberty, marriage and family, and innocent human life, which is why we’re proud to endorse them,” said Jonathan Saenz, President of Texas Values Action. “We look forward to working with these men and women to ensure Texas is a state in which religious freedom flourishes, families prosper, and every unborn child is valued.”
